Native Forest Nursery
Hardening nursery for 400,000 plants!
Our founder, Rod Drury, has gifted 4 hectares of land to Te Tapu o Tāne. The site is capable of holding up to 400,000 trees, and will be used to harden trees that will be used to regenerate Coronet Forest and Coronet Face. The land has been named Te Kohaka o Taramea.
This site is poised to become a strategic engine for both climate and biodiversity sectors, and serve as a vital source of native plant production, supporting large-scale reforestation and environmental regeneration projects. Beyond that, the site is set to become a hub of innovation and collaboration, as Te Tapu o Tāne develops a wānanga space where leaders from diverse fields—environmentalists, business leaders, policymakers, and cultural advisors—can gather to exchange ideas to drive forward climate action
The ongoing commitment and contribution of our Founder to regenerate native forests within the Whakatipu Basin has been recognised within Te Tapu o Tāne’s Acknowledgement of Support.
